Shop Review: The wine is full-bodied and silky yet robust, with
aromas of black cherry and plum and a palate of blackberry, raspberry
and blueberry jam laced with vanilla and toast (Vintage Cellar).
Personal Review: On the nose of the Wilson Daniels Merlot, cherry and vanilla were most prominent. Although it isn't necessarily a bad thing, the alcohol made itself much more apparent than most other wines. Overall, the wine was very dry, with soft tannins. It was extremely smooth, and had a little bit of an oaky finish that kind of reminded me of tree bark. I wasn't able to pick up any fruity qualities in the palate. For a merlot, I surprisingly enjoyed this.
