Tasting - Concannon Shiraz

Name: Concannon Shiraz
Variety: Syrah
Region: Central Coast, California
Country: United States
Year: 2008
Price: $7.95

Shop review: This is an extremely rich, full-bodied wine with a dark fruit core. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cassis and dark cherry are followed by more berry fruits and chocolate and mocha on the palate (Vintage Cellar).

Personal Review:  The Concannon Shiraz had a very complex nose. It smelled like dark cherries, with a hint of chocolate and vanilla to it. It was an extremely tannic and dry wine that really chalked up my mouth when drinking it. I could not detect any fruit on the palate, and it reminded me of dark chocolate. I don't think that my palate is experienced enough to truly appreciate this complex wine.
